![]() Clocking in at around three hours, this new chapter tells a well-developed story with a satisfying conclusion, and it whets players' appetites for what's coming in Part 2. Conspiracies, legends, and hidden treasures are revealed as players make acquaintances and learn a variety of cool new spells and abilities. The region is as beautiful as it is treacherous, marked by snow-covered vales and shadowy ruins and begs to be explored. The White March is an icy region full of beastly dangers such as wolves and trolls and more human threats such as mercenaries and religious fanatics. To defeat the latter, players can dabble in talents outside their own class and make use of powerful new soul-bound weapons.Ĭool as these things are, they pale in comparison to the expansion's new story line. The expansion starts by adding two new character levels (the new max is 14) and improving the behaviors of non-player characters that means smarter companions and smarter enemies. This superb new content takes players on a breathtaking adventure that offers them plenty of opportunity to engage in good old-fashioned role-playing. Fortunately, the new super-easy Storytime Mode can help you execute a replay at warp speed that's really good news, since despite being a bit all over the place, this current chapter is worth experiencing - but mainly if you're a fan of the original game or first White March installment. This is a worthy expansion of the main game that adds two new characters (Zahua the monk and robotic rogue the Devil of Caroc) as well as new locations, gear, levels, and objectives. It's totally possible to delete this save file, and once you do, you have no choice but to restart. Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II is the conclusion to the grand expansion pack for Obsidian’s critically acclaimed RPG, Pillars of Eternity. After a message lands on the doorstep of your personal fortress at Caed Nua, you head off to the frozen village of Stalwart. You play as an adventurer who starts out simply trying to build a new life in a new town. The White March Part II picks up where the first expansion to Pillars of Eternity left off. If you've finished the main game's quests, you have to load a special pre-ending save file provided by Obsidian Entertainment or start over completely. The White March takes place about a third of the way through Pillars’ main story, though it can be pursued at any time afterwards, and even scales dynamically if you’re of a higher level. Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part II continues the story of a game that takes these classic elements and breathes new life into them. ![]() ![]() Pillars of Eternity: White March 2 - Story Companions Builds, Part 1. Perhaps emblematic of this disconnection is the way the expansion fits into the main game - or doesn't. In Pillars of Eternity there are eleven companions you can recruit for your party. The overall story is oddly disjointed, made of interesting pieces that just don't add up to a cohesive whole. Her quest represents an unnecessary side step off the main narrative path, and, as such, it's like a lot of what you do in this expansion. The barbarian just isn't all that interesting gameplay-wise, especially if you already have a barbarian in your party, and her backstory is unremarkable. But her appearance signals the start of the not-so-good parts of the game. New side quests let you revisit familiar locations and explore new ones and introduce you to a new barbarian companion along the way. Spell Mastery allows classes expanded access to their core abilities, and new rest bonuses give you things such as better healing and damage reduction. It adds a new companion, new quests, and some nice conveniences but trips itself up by spinning a muddled yarn whose threads go off in all directions. Once again we visit the White March, and we get to pick up some plotlines that we already know from the first part. This is a decent expansion but, sadly, not as good as its predecessor.
